The Chief Minister also promised that a new taluk will be formed with KV Kuppam as headquarters soon while campaigning there.

Stating that the polls were stopped due to cash being seized from those close to the DMK candidate, he asked, “Why blame us, maybe somebody from your side betrayed you.” The DMK is totally to blame for the countermanding of elections, he added.

Referring to the promises made by the DMK chief, Palaniswami said Stalin won the recent elections by telling lies. He knows that if a lie is repeated a thousand times, people will believe it, he added.

In a frontal attack onStalin’s attempt to dethrone him, the Chief Minister said, “It is because Stalin cannot stand the fact of a farmer becoming a Chief Minister. People placed their trust in Amma and gave the government to us. If the people give you the government you too can rule, but you cannot, because thepeople have seen through your lies. What can we do if people do not give you the government?”

On to the trust vote forced by the DMK, he said, “You pulled 18 MLAs and tried to topple the government, but in that also you failed. And the MLAs who came out because of you were left high and dry midway.”

Recalling the way DMK MLAs behaved inside the Assembly, he said, “The Assembly is an illustrious place where the laws are formed. The DMK proved their high handedness by dancing even on the Chief Minister’s table.” “Are you fit to rule,” Palaniswami asked.

Speaking on farm issues, the Chief Minister said a team of retired chief engineers were conducting a survey on where to construct check dams to ensure no water was wasted. Stating that work estimated at Rs 600 crore of the Rs 1000 crore sanctioned for check dams was already over and the government would sanction Rs 500 crore to construct 1,829 check dams in the state soon.
