Chief Minister Palaniswami should be called edupidi (aide) Palaniswami as he is totally udavakarai (useless). He has ensured that most funds sanctioned for various government schemes have returned to the Centre due to it not being used, Stalin said while campaigning for candidate DM Kathir Anand at Oosur.
Addressing a meeting from his van, Stalin said the CAG report revealed that for the 2017-18 financial year funds totalling Rs 28,179 crore reverted to the Union government due to their not being utilised.
The reverted funds, included Rs 1,627 crore for the SSA (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan), Rs 2,064 crore for drinking water schemes, Rs 2,034 crore for roads and bridges in TN, Rs 1,729 crore for irrigation schemes and Rs 139 crore for a bridge at Yercaud, Stalin added.
Referring to various announcements made in the Assembly under Section 110 of the Assembly rules, he said from 2013 till date schemes totally estimated at Rs 1.21 lakh crore were announced of which Rs 50,000 crore remained unutilised.
Stalin wondered how the Chief Minister could call himself a farmer, when he ensured that the government went on appeal against the court order stopping Rs 10,000 crore eight-lane green corridor despite the vociferous opposition to it from the farmers.
Stating that sending Kathir Anand to Parliament would ensure that many pending projects in the area would be completed, he said, “I will not only come for seeking votes, we will come again to thank you when he wins and again to review the work done by him in the area.”
