The film actress was summoned by the police to record her statement following an order by the Madras High Court, where Shaman Mithru-the hero and producer of Thoratti-filed a petition alleging that Sathyakala has been kept under “house arrest” by her family members in Coimbatore.
Shaman Mithru had approached the Mahalingapuram police to rescue Sathyakala, but claimed that the cops failed to trace her. Following this, he moved the court alleging that her father and stepmother abducted her as they weren’t interested in her taking up acting as a profession.
The film is scheduled for release on August 2. The heroine, Sathyakala, did not, however, participate in promotional activities organised by the film crew. The actress, appearing before the police in Mahalingapuram station, however, said that she skipped the events due to difference of opinion with Shaman Mithru. “I did not go missing. I am very well living with my parents. I did not participate in press meets organised by the producer due to issues with him,” Sathyakala told police. The police are likely to submit her statement before court on August 5.
Police sources said that the actress came down to her parents’ house from Chennai as she had issues with the producer over remuneration for acting in the film.
