Explain foreign visits, Vaiko to PM

“From the time of former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru till Manmohan Singh it was the practice of Prime Ministers to reveal the information about their foreign visits, but only Narendra Modi has not revealed information about his foreign visits. It is not the duty of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to inform about the foreign visits of Modi in Parliament,” said Vaiko, while delivering his address at Rajya Sabha.

On behalf of Modi, Jaishankar addressed Rajya Sabha about the recent foreign visits of Modi. The issue has created controversy as various Parliamentarians questioned why Modi did not address Rajya Sabha about his foreign visits.

Vaiko said that he was happy that Modi met US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, but he should explain the purpose of his visits. “Modi should explain the purpose of his foreign visits, the issues he discussed with leaders and the benefits of his foreign visits. Why is Modi not coming forward to reveal the details of his foreign visits,” questioned Vaiko.

Though Jaishankar is an expert in foreign affairs it is not his job to speak on behalf of Modi and Prime Minister himself should give explanation about his visits, said Vaiko.
