37-year-old woman constable commits suicide

Police said Gomathi, the constable, was married to Siva from Tiruvallur about 10 years ago. But due to some misunderstandings, they separated a few years ago. Gomathi was alone since then, and reportedly used to tell those close to her that she was not able to live without her husband.

On Friday evening, Gomathi returned from work and went inside her room. For a long time, she did not open the door. On suspicion, her father broke-open the door with the help of neighbours, and found Gomathi hanging from the ceiling using her dupatta. A police team from the Kanchi Taluk station visited the spot and retrieved the body, which was sent for post-mortem examination at Kancheepuram government hospital.
