Juveniles among 7 held for robbing teashop owner
The Otteri police have arrested seven persons, including two juveniles, for robbing a teashop owner and damaging CCTV cameras in the locality to prevent police from identifying them.

The incident happened on Friday morning, when the victim, K Munusamy (36) of Otteri, was on his way to buy supplies for his tea shop. He was intercepted by a gang at Mangalapuarm who threatened him at knifepoint and robbed him of Rs 1,200. Apart from threatening other passers-by who came to Munusamy’s rescue, the gang also damaged the CCTV cameras in the vicinity and fled from the spot. Based on his complaint, police registered a case and secured the suspects after conducting inquiries with the residents. The accused were identified as V Naveenkumar (28), Y Selavaraj (21) and R Sanjaykumar (20) of Mangalapuram, and R Ajaikumar (20) and B Santhosh (19) of Otteri, besides two others below 18 years of age.
They were remanded in judicial custody while the juveniles were sent to observation home.
