In a statement, AG Mourya, general secretary – Organisation (North and East), Makkal Needhi Maiam said the survey conducted by the Transparency International as part of its “Corruption Perception Index 2019” revealed that 62 per cent of the people in Tamil Nadu have to pay bribes to get their work done in the government departments.

“People of Tamil Nadu for getting a job, start an enterprise and avail welfare assistance have to pay bribe to the officials to get their work done,” he said, lamenting that the Tamil Nadu people who have a cultural history and tradition were pushed to such situation due to those who ruled the states for the last 50 years. Mourya said that in all fairness, it was the ruling administration that should bow its head not the people. “Tamil Nadu would soon become a symbol of honesty considering the future political change which would result in the regime change in the state,” he said.
