“17 people belonging to SC community were killed at Nadur village near Mettupalayam on Monday. I request the honourable Minister to depute the Chairman of NCSC to visit Nadur and to make on spot study of the incident,” said Ravikumar, in a memorandum submitted to Union Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot in Lok Sabha.

The issue of 17 deaths due to wall collapse created an outrage in the state and opposition parties criticised the government for trying to protect the accused who constructed the wall, claimed as untouchability wall.

Ravikumar also demanded the Union Minister to ensure that Chairman of NCSC to order a full-fledged inquiry about the death of 17 SC people and police brutality. “Please ask Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to conduct periodical vigilance committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister mandated by Prevention of Atrocities Amendment Act,” said Ravikumar.

Similarly, Venkatesan too submitted a memorandum to Union Minister demanding investigation by NCSC over the 17 deaths due to wall collapse and police brutality over protesters.
