Police said Sajikarun (44), a native of Thrissur and running financial firms on Pollachi-Palladam Road and in Kerala had duped many of several crores by promising huge returns for their deposits.

After the fraudster closed both the firms in Pollachi and Palakkad and went into hiding, the Kerala police arrested him on 29 November from a hideout in Thrissur. Based on his confession, a police team from Kerala came to his house by taking the accused to Balaji Nagar in Mahalingapuram.

As police turned up in large numbers, the local residents informed the Mahalingapuram police, who immediately rushed to the spot. The local cops queried as why they were not informed of the search. Soon the VAO Danraj also came there and faulted the Kerala police for not informing him. A wordy duel ensued between the local police and Kerala police.

Then, the Kerala police produced court orders for conducting the search operation and left after seizing some documents from the house of the accused. A cop in the Mahalingapuram police said that it is the norm to keep local police informed during such searches to prevent any untoward incidents.
