Notice to take down Sasikala's house

Reports quoting officials said the building poses a threat to passersby and those living in it.

Authorities in Thanjavur have issued notice to demolish a house owned by Sasikala, jailed former aide to late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. 

Corporation officials say the building on SPI Mission High School road is very old and may collapse anytime and should be brought down. 

Reports quoting officials said the building poses a threat to passersby and those living in it. 

It said, if the building is not taken down in 15 days, its owners and those using it will be responsible for any damages it may cause and should also pay up the cost of demolition. 

Sasikala is serving a long jail term for her role in corruption cases when she was an aide to chief minister Jayalalithaa till the time of her death in December 2016.
