According to the GO, earlier the age limit for beneficiaries applying for Amma two- wheelers was fixed between 18 and 40, but now the age limit has been increased to 45 years, retaining the minimum age limit to 18.

Another change that was introduced in the scheme is the educational qualification. Earlier, the beneficiaries had to pass Class 8 to be eligible for applying for the scheme, but now the clause has been removed. Instead, a new clause on annual salary has been introduced.

“The women working on special time scale pay whose annual income shall not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh like anganwadi workers and helpers, noon meal organisers, cooks and assistants, women workers in cooperative societies and other women holding similar positions in government departments/undertakings, urban and rural local bodies are eligible for getting the subsidy under the scheme,” read the GO.

The GO also stated that the changes were introduced after obtaining recommendations from various District Collectors who have received demands from various women to change the eligibility criteria for implementing the scheme.

Amma two-wheeler scheme has been implemented by the state government since 2018 by providing maximum subsidy of Rs 25,000 or 50 per cent of the cost of the two wheeler, whichever is less, tothe beneficiaries.
