However, the couple decided to end their fast after jail superintendent Andal and Vellore prisons DIG Jayabharathi held talks with Murugan. The convict Murugan ended his fast after consulting his wife and co-convict Nalini. The couple ended their fast by drinking tender coconut water at their respective men’s and women’s prisons. Murugan and Nalini started their fast seeking release from the prison or to grant them mercy killing by the end of November.

Meanwhile, early in November, Murugan fasted for a few days demanding his removal from the solitary confinement. Murugan was placed in solitary confinement after the authorities found an android mobile, 2 sim cards and a charger in his cell. His wife Nalini fasted in support of his plea.
