Sultan Bathery in Wayanad, Kerala, is a quaint and peaceful town. The place came to be known by its new name after the great ruler, Tipu Sultan of Mysuru, invaded the region and used the Jain Temple located here as a battery.

The pleasant weather coupled with spectacular historical sites and spice plantations make the town of Sulthan Bathery a popular tourist destination. Located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above the sea level, the hill station has many tourist attractions like caves, jungle trails, rivers and lush greenery. 

Places to visit in Sulthan Bathery:


Edakkal Caves: The caves are two natural rock formations believed to have been formed by a large split in a huge rock. It is believed that the caves were camping shelters of the Neolithic community and the cave walls contain a collection of Neolithic rock engravings and images.


Chethalayam Falls: It is one among the lesser known waterfalls in Northern Kerala and locals believe it to have some of the finest trekking trails in the area. One can also find a lot of exotic flora scattered across the area.Ambalavayal Heritage Museum: One of the largest archaeological museums in Kerala, it has a rich collection of artefacts which stand in testimony of the fact that there had been an advanced civilisation which existed in the mountains of Wayanad.
