DMDK candidates list today, says Premalatha

“Seat sharing talks with AIADMK on local body polls went on smoothly and the list has been finalised by the party. The finalised list would be released on Monday,” said Premalatha Vijayakant, while addressing reporters, at Chennai airport. 

DMDK is one of the major alliance partners in the ruling AIADMK alliance and the party was involved in several rounds of talks with the AIADMK to finalise the number of seats to be allotted for the party. 

DMDK locked horns with the PMK at several panchayats in northern districts where both the party claim stakes.

However, AIADMK was able to sort out the seats despite having differences. Premalatha too accepted the differences in seat sharing process and said that there were minor differences. 

“In alliance talks there will always be demand from all the parties. We demanded more seats for which AIADMK could not agree but despite that alliance talks were completed,” she said adding that the party’s alliance bond with AIADMK remain strong. 

When asked about the Citizenship Amendment Act, she replied that India is a land encompassing several communities and the Centre should ensure that the Act does not target a single community.
