The Minister was speaking as a special guest at a meeting, organised by the Jallikattu Peravai for the jallikattu organisers across the Pudukkottai district.
The Pudukkottai district had organsied the maximum number of events last year. And the mega event was organised in Viralimalai for the Guinness Book of World Records. The state government and the district administration would provide all supports to Pudukkottai for organising the jallikattu event, the minister said.
He also said that the previous event was not organised in a bigger manner since the Lok Sabha election Model Code of Conduct was in effect. But, this season it would compensate that, he said.
Meanwhile, the minister claimed that several bulls sustain injuries during the jallikattu event. A few bulls even died due to absence of medicine available. “So, the upcoming event would have an ambulance near the event venue exclusively for the jallikattu bulls,” he said.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had already offered an animal ambulance. That would be stationed near the jallikattu venue, the minister said. The AIADM K government would always support the people to celebrate the event, he added.
The minister appealed to the jallikattu organisers not to force the bulls to wait for a longer time at the venue, which may scare them.
