“The owner of the compound wall should be booked under the SC/ST Act. The National Commission for Scheduled Caste conducted an inquiry into the incident after our party MP Ravi Kumar raised the issue in Parliament,” he said, while holding the protest in front of the South Taluk office.

Demanding to invoke the SC/ST Act against the house owner, the VCK leader said that all discriminatory practices in hotels, temples and graveyards should be ended.

“The families of the deceased persons should be given a compensation of Rs 1 crore. The tragedy happened due to the inaction of the authorities,” he said.

Raising slogans against both the state and the Central governments, Thirumavalavan condemned the Citizenship Amendment Act being executed by the Central government.

“The BJP government at the Centre has become an agent to implement the RSS ideologies in the country. We will continue with our protests for social justice,” he said.

Earlier, Thirumavalavan met the families of the victims in Mettupalayam and consoled them.

Meanwhile, members of the Hanuman Sena staged a black flag protest against Thirumavalavan’s visit to Coimbatore.

“The government is taking necessary action. But Thirumavalavan has been creating caste divisions and flaring up communal issues. He should be booked under the National Security Act,” said the protesting members.
