Based on a tipoff from the locals, the Sathuvachari police reached the stone quarry at new Vasur village on the outskirts of the town. When the police recovered the body it was already bloated and decomposed.
Following the preliminary information, the Sathuvachari police zeroed down on the possibility that the victim could be one Nivedha who went missing on December 14 and called her parents based on the suspicion. When the parents reached the spot they identified that it was their daughter Nivedha (17) of Ariyur Kuppam, who was working in a canteen of a private hospital in Vellore town. The parents of the girl identified the body with the help of a tattoo on her hand.
The police suspected that Nivedha could have been murdered as her phone and two-wheeler were still missing. Based on a complaint, they registered a case and began the investigations. The police are investigating if the miscreants murdered and drowned her into the waterbody in the quarry.
