First Assembly session of 2020 likely by second week of Jan
The first session of the state Assembly for the year 2020 is likely to commence by the second week of January, immediately after the conclusion of rural local bodies elections.

Sources in Secretariat said, “The first session of 2020 will commence with the address of Governor Banwarilal Purohit on January 6 or 7. The session is likely to be held for five days and will conclude before the commencement of Pongal holidays.”
The state Assembly is convened twice a year, once in January and another in the mid of a year to debate on the motions introduced by the state government.
The first session will usually commence with Governor’s address followed by Chief Minister’s reply to the address following debate in the House.
The Governor’s address will contain the achievements of the state government in the previous year and some of the important announcements for the current year. Opposition parties will raise their objections on the points in Governor’s address and will debate on it on the floor of the House.
The session holds importance as it is going to be convened immediately after the results of local body elections are announced and heated debates on the mode of conduct of elections are expected among host of issues.
