However, the concerned official IG Sandeep Mittal, told this newspaper he is preferring a complaint with Delhi police, because his handle was ‘hacked’. Farhan Akhtar, the actor-filmmaker is among the many big screen and small screen personalities who have been tweeting about the CAA protests, and condemning the violent ways in which the students of Jamia Milia University were treated by Delhi police on Sunday night.

In response, Sandeep Mittal, who has completed his Central deputation and waiting to be repatriated to TN, tweeted to Farhan that he had broken the law by posting that tweet. To supplement his argument, Mittal shared a video which explained what Section 121 of the Indian Penal Code was about. However, on Thursday morning, the IPS officer was on the receiving end with netizens selectively pulling out his likes from twitter account and reposting the same to indicate the officer’s handle had porncontent.

Sandeep Mittal reacted quickly and posted: “My Twitter Handle was partially hacked by the elements opposed to my questioning of Akhtar Duo. I am registering a complaint against these elements with Delhi Police. I would not be bogged down by these anti-social elements”. He had hash tagged his tweet #CAAsupport.

Talking to this newspaper, the IPS officer said he is being targeted by netizens because of his stand on CAA. However, his claim of his twitter handle being partially hacked was trolled by the netizen. Many wanted to know what he mean by ‘partially hacked’. Twitter users picked his ‘likes’ which had porn content in it and started trolling him for it.

It may be noted that Sandeep Mittal was in the dock in the year 2011 for Paramakudi firing incident in which seven persons were killed in police firing which happened in Ramanathpuram district in September that year. Sandeep Mittal was DIG, who was present when the incident happened.

The officer had faced another controversy in the year 2014, while working in National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science while on central deputation, after a junior colleague and his wife held him responsible for their suicide by jumping before a train in Mathura, UP.
