Udhayakumar said the act has been passed after extensive debates and the amendment was the need of the hour.

The students have to be made aware of the act, it is their lack of clear understanding that they've been made the political pawn of the ulterior motives of opposition parties, said the Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management.

The AIADMK minister was asked about Kamal Hassan joining hands with DMK he said that his party doesn't care who joins with whom, AIADMK will become victors with a thumping majority.

He said the DMK's rancour against AIADMK is the reason for them to seek a ban of the pongal gifts distribution, despite the party made it clear that the distribution is only for the non-polling districts.
