Edu dept seeks cybercrime expertise to stop paper leaks
In the wake of reports that half-yearly exam question papers, especially for class XII students, were leaked in social media this year, the state government has decided to seeking opinion of experts in an effort to prevent such unsavoury incidents before the examinations.

Several question papers, including Mathematics, Physics and Commerce, meant for half yearly examinations even for class XI students were allegedly circulated in the social media two days before the examinations. Following this, the School Education Department came in for sharp criticisms.
Though the Directorate of Examination, which prepares the question papers involving academicians and teachers, denied the reports of leak, many students recently complained that they received identical questionnaires during the exam.
In a swift move after the leak, the School Education Department has approached State cybercrime wing and sought its help to make the whole system fool-proof and to stop such question paper leaks in the future.
A senior official from the Department told DT Next that the authorities have also sought the expertise of State Information Technology department to put an end to the problem.
“The question paper is a big issue and genuine students turn out to be the worst affected. The issue will not only affect their education, but also will also cause stress and fear. To make a permanent solution to this issue, we are seeking assistance of experts”, he added.
He said the cybercrime wing will help the department to locate the persons, who were involved in question paper leak and bring them to books.
“Information Technology department experts will guide how to stop this issue by strengthening the examination management system”, he added.
The official also claimed that authorities would work out to come out with a new examination system, which would help to deliver the question papers to the students just in time through biometric authentication as it would also assist to stop impersonation.
“All the aspects and feasibility will be studied before implementing the new system”, he added.
Stating that at present off-line exam is being adopted in the schools, he said that the government would also take steps to strengthen security measures during the transportation of question papers to the respective regions.
