According to police, Nithya (19) from the Nilgiris had married her love interest Vignesh (23) from Narasimmanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore three months ago. Police said Vignesh is working as a receptionist in a private hotel.
“They were in love over the last few years. However their parents opposed their love. Three months ago, the couple got married and sought protection from her parents by appearing in the All Women’s Police Station in Thudiyalur. Then, the cops summoned the parents of both the bride and bridegroom and got in writing that they wouldn’t create any trouble.
The couple had then stayed by renting out a house. Meanwhile, Nithya’s father lodged a complaint in Kotagiri police station that her daughter has gone missing.
Following a probe, the police summoned Nithya to the station. “The couple was waiting for bus at Thudiyalur bus stop, when the girl’s father and three others came there in a car and asked them to get into the vehicle for conciliatory talks. Midway, the men pushed out Vignesh and took with them Nithya alone,” police said.
Based on a complaint from Vignesh, the Thudiyalur police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the girl and her abductor parents.
