A group of workers, who were involved in harvesting sugarcane from the farm owned by Thangaraj found the cubs among the fully grown crop. They immediately informed the Forest Department about the leopard cubs.
On receiving information, the Jeerahalli Forest Department personnel rushed to the spot and rescued both the leopard cubs and took them to the forest department office.
“The cubs were barely around 20 days old. The adult leopard might have left behind the cubs in the farm, which had well grown sugarcane crops and had gone in search of prey,” said a Forest Department staff. The foresters said that they are yet to decide whether to leave the cubs in the forest area or in a sanctuary. Meanwhile, a large number of local villagers turned up to see the rescued cubs.
