“You (officials) are aware that Tamil Nadu has been ranked Number One in the Good Governance Index released by the Central government. Constant and consistent efforts are required to retain the coveted position,” said the Chief Minister, in the letter written to the secretaries of all the government departments.

Recently, in the report released by the Centre for Good Governance, attached to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Grievances, Tamil Nadu was ranked the first in the Governance. This was for the first time that the state received the first place in governance and the entire state machinery celebrated the report.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister took New Year as an opportunity and wrote separate letters for the first time to all the department secretaries asking them to work better and to improve on certain areas.

“I urge you to bestow your utmost care and attention on the performance of your department in the delivery of public services so that the benefits of good governance will continue to reach people. Improvement is required in certain sectors which I am sure we will be able to achieve,” said the Chief Minister, who also extended New Year wishes to them.
