Talking to newspersons, Anbazhagan charged that the Chief Minister is afraid of convening the Legislative Assembly and added that he was the one who conducted the House only for 12 days, the lowest number of days in a year in the entire country.
Being a new year, the Assembly should be convened with the customary address by the Lt Governor, Anbazhagan said. Funds would be allocated for Puducherry in the Union budget that would be presented on February 1, he said and added that soon after the announcement, the government should take steps to present a full budget for the year. Hence, the Legislative Assembly should be convened in the next 15 days, he demanded.
Anbazhagan said after cancelling the last Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister had convened one on Friday. It is being convened to give permission for some commercial establishments, private institutions and engineering colleges. However, Narayanasamy’s announcement that the Cabinet meeting was being held to decide on the provision of Pongal gift to the people was false, he said.
Anbazhagan demanded that the Cabinet should take a decision to provide Rs 1,000 each to all ration card holders along with Pongal hamper on the lines of the Tamil Nadu government.
The Union government had directed the state governments to make some amendments in GST as per the convenience of the states and write to the Centre. However, in Puducherry, the Chief Minister instead of convening the Assembly passed an ordinance on GST amendments as per the instructions of the Central government, to benefit some of his Cabinet colleagues and forwarded it to the Centre, he alleged.
Forgetting that he is the Chief Minister for the UT, Narayansamy is functioning to satisfy his party high command and is instigating violence and organising agitations with which the people would be affected, he said.
If the Lt Governor refuses to give permission for the construction schemes, the AIADMK would be ready to fight against the Lt Governor along with the government, he added.
