When a six-ft-long Russel Viper tried to bite Ramalingam, a farmer from Poonga Nagar, near Othakalmandapam, his three dogs attacked the snake and killed it.

The video of the incident caught in a mobile phone has gone viral in the social media. Ramalingam and his friend had gone to give fodder to the cattle tied in his farm. Then, his three dogs had also accompanied him to the farm.

Ramalingam noticed a snake crossing his way and tried to bite him. Taken aback on seeing the venomous snake, the duo had moved aside. However, the three dogs turned furious and pounced on the snake for trying to attack their master and charged on it.

The three dogs then fought it out valiantly with the snake for a while before mauling it to death. The farmer’s friend captured the incident in his mobile phone and this video went viral in the social media.

The farmer was extremely moved by the incident, while the villagers appreciated the dogs for their love of their master. In a similar incident, a few months ago, a pet dog had sacrificed its life to save its owner Natarajan (50), a farmer, from a venomous snake in Thanjavur district. The pet dog, which fought bravely to kill the snake, had also received bites and lost its life.
