Ashthira Yagna performed at Big Temple for smooth consecration

In order to conduct the consecration of the Big Temple in a grand manner and to prevent any hindrance, a special Ashthira Yagam was performed in which as many as 101 Saivaite priests participated in Thanjavur on Thursday.

The consecration for the Thanjavur Big Temple is scheduled on February 5 and the preparatory works are being undertaken while the temple authorities have planned Yagasalai pooja on February 1.


In this backdrop, the temple authorities have planned  to organise an ashthira yagam to invoke God to help the consecration to be held in a grand manner without any hinderance and the yagam has been planned to be performed at Kalaiamman temple located in all eight directions and Punnainallur Mariamman temple.


Accordingly, the Ukkirakaliamman temple at Keezha vasal Vellalar street, Vadapathira Kaliamman temple at Mela Alangaram, Yegowri Amman temple at Vallam, Kodiyamman temple at the banks of Vennaru, Kaliga Parameshwari temple at South Veedhi, Mahishasura Marthini temple at Vadakku vasal, Kaliamman temple at Rajagopalaswamy temple street and Vadapathira Kaliamman temple at Poomal Rawthar street and Punnainallur Mariamman temple and special Shathi homam and abhishekams were performed.


In continuation with the special yagam, Ashthira Yagam was performed at the Natarajar Sannidhi on the Big Temple premises on Thursday morning and special kala poojas were also performed in which 101 Saivaite priests participated.
