In a WhatsApp posting, Bedi said that she had a very useful meeting and the staff at the Collectorate were advised to document and track systematically all files, petitions and share more amongst each other.
They were also advised to minute their meetings to keep track of improvement to be effective.
The staff must also become more analytical to analyse the cause of issues such as land grabbings repeatedly occurring. Till the National Informatic Centre systematise more, the respective desks in the Collectorate will have to use the excel sheet systems technology tool to track, document and analyse which will help them move from post office system to and intelligent system which corrects the causes, she added.
The Lt Governor advised the District Collector to hold a weekly review with all SDMs and Tahsildars every week and minute his meeting to keep track of the decisions taken.
Earlier, in an open letter to team members in the administration, the Lt Governor said that some of them and their juniors are being brow-beaten time and again only to over awe them hopefully make them ineffective.
It may be to compromise, reconcile or weaken their resolve in problem solving or to doubt their own capacity and capability.
They should remember that the appointed officials are here to work for the benefit of those who do not have the courage and capacity to raise their inner needs or not even in a capacity to take decisions due to their hidden constraints.
“We are here for the good of overall administration and not the few which is why our services is for reform and transformation in its process,” she said.
Several vested interests have already been broken through in Puducherry in the recent past by conscientious team members and complex situational decision making which is cleaning up the Augean stables, the Lt Governor said, adding that she is aware that it is not a pleasant situation to be in always. But that is life all about, Bedi added.
Stating that they must remain professional, since, this is their accountability, she said they are here to improve matters whatever the price is. This is neither the first time nor the last time someone of them may be facing, the Lt Governor said and urged them to observe, learn and perform.
She added that as long as they are upright and honest in their intention, they will remain protected. “Bullying “ in the form of harassment does not last long. It may be stressful, but that is what personal and professional training is for, to deal with such situation from time to time, Bedi said.
