The DMK had decided to organise protest at as many as five Delta districts and scheduled to demonstrate at Taluk Office at Nagapattinam, Manjakuppam Head Post Office in Cuddalore, Collectorate at Tiruvarur, Head Post Office at Thanajvur and Tilagar Thidal at Pudukkottai.

Sources said that the police denied permission in all the districts except Tiruvarur on Monday morning. Later, the DMK moved the court to get permission to hold the protests.

Still, the DMK cadre said that the protests would be organised as per schedule. Meanwhile, anti-nuke activist Prof T Jayaraman, who planned to distribute pamphlets against the hydrocarbon project in Mayiladuthurai among the farmers and fishermen was denied permission.

Prof Jayaraman convened a meeting recently in Mayiladuthurai with the farmers and fishermen in which the meeting resolved to distribute pamphlets from Monday against the anti-peopleprojects.

In the meantime, heavy posse of police is being deputed on duty across the five districts to avert any untoward incidents.

At the same time, the DMK has decided to exhibit a show strength protest in the regionand claimed that they would stage the protest even if the police denypermission.
