“During DMK’s rule the IAS transfers were common. In fact, DMK went a step ahead by suspending Uma Shankar, IAS, who was then the Managing Director of TACTV for not favouring the private television run by DMK family,” said IT Minister RB Udhayakumar, in a statement.

Recently, IT Secretary Santhosh Babu tendered his resignation and there were speculations that the reason for his resignation was that he refused to tweak a tender of Tamil Nadu Fibre Net Corporation (TANFINET) in favour of a private company.

Following the controversy, Santhosh Babu and another official working in TANFINET were transferred and posted in less significant posts on Monday. There were criticisms for the transfer and DMK president MK Stalin said that Santhosh Babu was transferred as he refused to oblige the state government for scamming in TANFINET.

Udhayakumar replied that there was no scam in TANFINET as claimed by Stalin. “Only now the tender for the project has been called and we have not received any reply from the companies. It is a wonder that Stalin is claiming that there was corruption and scam involved and it shows that Stalin is deeply disturbed.”

Udhayakumar further said that state was ranked one in good governance index released by the Centre and Stalin who could not digest the appreciation showered on the state government. So, he is speaking ill about the organisations that chose Tamil Nadu as the best governed state.
