Referring to the PMK calling off its proposed demonstration following an assurance from School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan that he would consider scrapping public exam for classes 5 and 8 from next year, former school education minister Thangam Thennarasu said there could not be a worse anti-people and anti-Tamil activity than thrusting board exam on young children.
Alleging that the PMK had announced a demonstration against ally AIADMK to stage a drama and project itself as an epitome of honesty, Thennarasu said the Minister has only stated the exam would be conducted this year and he would only consider scrapping it next year, which suggests that the Centre would tighten the noose around the state school education department even next year.
“A society which was denied education for many centuries were given access to schools and entered colleges through social justice and various concessions only in this century. Everyone should oppose this education police which aims to facilitate the establishment of Manu dharma and keep education out of the reach of the people,” Thennarasu said in a statement, reiterating his party chief MK Stalin’s demand for scrapping public exam for classes 5 and 8.
Elaborating on the series of ‘U’ turns of the AIADMK regime, especially its School Education Minister Sengottaiyan on the issue, the former DMK minister said they were used to the political drama of the AIADMK regime, but this concerns the life of students and it could not be permitted.
