In a memorandum submitted by a delegation of the CPM, led by State secretary R Rajangam, the party pointed out the agitations all over the country against the CAA, the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and said several states-including Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Punja-had taken a stance not to implement the CAA.

The Kerala Assembly even adopted a resolution against the CAA and moved the Supreme Court on the issue, Rajangam noted.Against this backdrop, the Assembly should also adopt a resolution that the CAA, NRC and the NPR will not be implemented in the Union Territory, he said. Further, stating that there is an effort to implement the NPR and the NRC in schools, the CPM urged the intervention of the Chief Minister Narayanasamy to prevent such a move.
