“Our party leader Vijayakant always stands for the words and we respect the alliance ethics but does not mean that we will budge to your blows,” said Premalatha, who also warned the alliance parties not to take the party for granted. After the Lok Sabha elections DMDK lost favour with the AIADMK and the ruling party focussed only on PMK as its key alliance partner. The alliance equation was visible in the recently concluded local body polls, too, as DMDK was not happy with the number of seats allotted to them.

At the time when there are frictions in alliance, Premalatha said, “Government in 2021 will be formed under the leadership of Vijayakant.” In the meeting, conducted to celebrate the victory of DMDK candidates in local body elections, Vijayakant, after a gap, spoke a few words to encourage his party cadres. “I will return to public work soon,” said Vijayakant.
