Later in the day, the CB-CID issued a lookout notice for Jayakumar in airports across the country and also announced a cash reward for any information that could lead to his arrest. The police are also conducting inquiries with Velmurugan, a staffer at a sub-registrar office, besides a few others who have been arrested in connection with the case so far.

Meanwhile, Chithandi, the policeman hailing from Sivaganga, who had helped four of his family members enrol in the 2019 Group 4 exam and the 2017 Group 2 exam and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital has gone missing.

CB-CID police said that they had gone in search of Chithandi to the hospital but couldn’t trace him. Sources said he was employed as a car driver for a retired police Director General of Police, who was also the TNPSC chairperson post-retirement. Police investigation began after the TNPSC internal probe found out that close to 99 candidates indulged in malpractices to clear the Group 4 examination conducted by the Commission. So far, 14 people, including several government staffers, have been arrested in connection with the irregularities in the exam held in September 2019.
