School edu secy shifted

Dheeraj Kumar, who was holding the post of principal secretary of Youth Welfare and Sports Department, which is also under the School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, will replace Yadav.

The transfer of Pradeep Yadav assumes significance as it comes a couple of days after Minister Sengottaiyan announced the cancellation of board exams to Class 5 and Class 8.

Sources in the Directorate of School Education alleged that Yadav was the key person to influence the state in adopting Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD’s) new education policy and to introduce board exams for Class 5 and Class 8, which was opposed not only by the academicians but also various political parties, including the DMK.

In addition, Yadav suggested appointing state’s first Education Commissioner Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan. It was also said that many officials did not cooperate with Yadav to bring US experts to give free NEET coaching.

The state also transferred Transport Secretary Dr B Chandra Mohan and posted him as principal secretary to Backward Classes Department. The new Transport secretary will be Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, who was the principal secretary, chairman, and managing director, Overseas Man Power Corporation Limited. The present principal secretary for Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Kadhi Kumar Jayant has been posted to take care of Overseas Man Power Corporation Limited.
