According to Ayyakannu, Home Minister Amit Shah had promised to allocate funds for the inter-linking of rivers and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal had also promised the farmers of profitable price for the agri produces and interest free loan up to Rs 5 lakh to all farmers, but nothing has been mentioned in the budget.

“This has dejected the entire farming community and the Centre has termed the farmers as second rate citizens. The farmers will prostrate before the union ministers and will also organise a protest in front of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s residence as the CM had also promised to waive the loans of the farmers when he met them in Delhi during the protest in 2016,” claimed Ayyakannu.

The executive committee of the association will meet on February 11 to decide on the hunger strike.
