OPS hints at please-all budget with focus on economy
Deputy Chief Minister and state Finance Minister O Panneerselvam on Friday said that the budget will cater to the need of all sections of people in the state.

“Ever since the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa took charge in 2011, the budgets focussed on alleviating poverty and to uplift poor and rural people. The present government working on the principles of Jayalalithaa will present budget in such a manner that will satisfy all the sections of the society,” said Panneerselvam here.
The state government is busy in preparing the budget that is expected to be tabled soon. Since it the last complete budget of the current ruling party, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in the recent Cabinet meeting, had asked all the Ministers to come up with new schemes and initiatives.
When the expectations are running high on the budget, Panneerselvam said that the government is working on to bring new schemes for the people. “Social security schemes already introduced by the government are bearing fruit and they are taking people on the path of social and economic development. Several new schemes for the economic development of the statewill be in the budget,” saidPanneerselvam.
The Deputy Chief Minister attended a tribal youth exchange programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, in the city on Friday, where tribal youth from Chhattisgarh came to Tamil Nadu to witness the culture and tradition prevailing in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The students are here for one week. They will visit historic and cultural sites inthe state.
Addressing the tribal youth, Panneerselvam said, “India is one of the very few countries to possess rich working population as more than 50 per cent of population in India is under less than 50 years of age. Youth play a prominent role in the economic development and success of the country and to take forward the schemes of the government.”
Panneerselvam welcomed the initiative of Nehru Yuva Kendra and asked them to arrange more such programmes in the future.
