According to the police, Gokula Kannan (40), working as an assistant professor in a private college, and residing at ‘Peria Semur Chozha’ Nagar in Erode district, was approached by eight persons, including Karthikeyan and his father Ravi Kumar, promising a government job. “Trusting them, Gokula Kannan gave Rs 7 lakh in three instalments over a period of time. Then, the fraudster gang gave him a fake appointment order for joining in a government office in Chennai. He came to know of the fraud, only when he went to join for duty,” the police said. A shocked Gokula Kannan had demanded the conmen to return the money, however, they failed to return. Following this, he lodged a complaint against them at Surampatty police station. Upon inquiry, the Surampatty police registered a case and arrested both Ravi Kumar and his son Karthikeyan. A search is on to nab six others and further investigations are on.
