“All the Congress ruled states and parties like Trinamool Congress have decided not to implement the CAA, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). Like other Congress ruled states, Puducherry will also not implement CAA,” said Narayanasamy, while addressing reporters at Chennai airport.

He also said that India is a secular country, but the BJP government at the Centre is trying to divide people on the lines of religion. “The decision of the Union government to grant citizenship for people of six religions coming from three nations shows that government is trying to divide people on religious lines and realising the danger, people are protesting across the nation. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK is leading the protest against CAA and they have obtained 2 crore signatures in a campaign launched against the Act,” said Narayanasamy.

He further said that Puducherry government will not worry even if BJP government at the Centre takes action against them for opposing CAA as the government is functioning on the secular lines. Puducherry government will continuously oppose BJP’s intention to divide and rule the people of the nation.
