The special court judge RN Manjula who heard the case found Raju (name changed) guilty of the crime and sentenced him as per section 10 (Aggravated sexual assault) of Pocso Act.

The Public Prosecutor L Srilekha, submitted that Raju had sexually assaulted his daughter when she was alone in her room.

“After assaulting her for a couple of times, he also threatened her daughter that he would commit suicide if she tells anyone about the incident. Fearing for her father’s life, the young girl who was studying Class 7 didn’t reveal it to anyone but wrote it down in her notebook,” the Public Prosecutor said.

Eventually, she showed the notebook to her mother but still, they hesitated to file a complaint. On April 18, her mother who is working as a household help in the neighbouring area found her daughter shivering from fever due to the assault. After seeing her daughter, the mother took her to the hospital and eventually filed a complaint at the All Women Police Station inAyanavaram.

In her complaint, the mother alleged that they didn’t tell anyone about the incident due to the sensitivity of the issue but seeing her daughter being subjected to severe trauma by her own father, she had no choice.
