Ahead of the exam season, the 104-Health Helpline starts counselling programme for classes 10 and 12 students appearing for their board exams. A special team is being trained to provide tele-counselling for the students.
The healthcare staff with 104-Helpline said that stress is a common issue dealt by students throughout their academic life and during examinations it reaches its peak. “The students usually experience anticipatory stress that is experienced while studying and thinking about it, and situational stress experienced during the examination itself, can cause loss of concentration, physical distress and emotional upset.”
This year, student counselling programme will be conducted in three phases- Phase 1 – Examination preparation, Phase 2 – Coping pattern for examinations, Phase 3 – Facing the results. The first phase of student’s counselling programme has been going on since February 13, which focuses on exam preparation. Advice regarding diet pattern during examination, stress management / relaxation techniques, techniques to improve memory and concentration, fear and anxiety management and study plan are also provided by the experts. The 104-Helpline service will have a team to clarify all the queries and to support the students with exclusive tele-counselling to provide relevant information to succeed in public examinations,” said Selva Kumar, head of operations at GVK EMRI.
