Around 1,000 members from various Muslim outfits gathered near Tiruchy district collectorate led by Maulana Ruhil Haq head of Jamaul Ulama Sabai, Tiruchy district and raised slogans against the Centre and State governments condemning the CAA and NRC. The protesters demanded the State government to initiate steps to insist the Centre to withdraw the amendment. The agitators met the district Collector S Sivarasu and handed over a memorandum requesting the State government to initiate steps to rescue the minorities especially Muslims of the State.

Maulana alleged that the Centre has several plans against the minorities as the BJP led government has influences of RSS that always planned to suppress the minorities. He also warned that Muslims agitators across the State would not stop the protests until the State government passes a resolution against CAA on the Assembly floor.

Meanwhile, in Thanjavur, the Muslim members converged near the new bus stand and marched towards the district collectorate by raising slogans. However, they were stopped by the officials at TANTEX roundabout, yet the agitators continued their protest near the place. The protestors demanded the State to pass a resolution in the assembly floor on par with the Kerala and Puducherry states. Similar protests were held in all the central districts.
