CM thanks ‘farmer-allergic’ Stalin for publicity
Raising doubt why the word ‘farmer’ irritates DMK chief MK Stalin, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami took a swipe at the opposition leader by asking AIADMK cadre to take it easy on publicity as Stalin is doing for free for him day in and day out.

Participating in the wedding function in the family of AIADMK Deputy Coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam in Thanjavur on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said, each person would get a chance in his life time and the person should utilise it properly. “Thus I got a chance of my lifetime and became the Chief Minister with the blessings of all the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Palaniswami ridiculed DMK president Stalin for his continuous criticism on the state government and claimed that the AIADMK cadre need not go for publicity spending for the party, but it has been done free by the DMK chief. “I do not know why the word ‘farmer’ irritates the DMK president Stalin. When I say that I am a farmer, he volunteers himself and say that I do not belong to the category. Since I belong to the family of a farmer, I always happily say that I am a farmer but this irritates Stalin,” claimed Palaniswami.
He stressed that a farmer is one who does not depend on anyone and Stalin cannot defeat the farmers at any cost. “The farmers are meant for hard work and Stalin should stop humiliating them,” said the Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said that the Chief Minister had declared the Cauvery Delta as Protected Agricultural Zone to save the region which faced a threat from the hydrocarbon extraction project. “Now, the people can feel at ease. They don’t need to be afraid as the Chief Minister has put an end to this,” Panneerselvam added.
