According to reliable sources, Krishna Mohan (30) of Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh and working as assistant professor in a private engineering college there fell in love with a 21-year-old student. When the girl completed her course and joined a computer course in Bengaluru, Krishna Mohan followed the girl there and expressed his love for her, demanding that she marry him.
Turning down his proposal, the girl also dropped out of the course and went back home to Cuddapah, sources said.
A few days ago, when her parents were out, Krishna reportedly arrived at the girl’s house in a purdah and insisted that she also wear the same. He then forced her to remain silent and then spilt petrol he had brought with him all over the room and then opened the gas cylinder.
Krishna then placed the skull and some bones he had brought with him in the house in a bid to create an impression that an explosion from the cylinder had resulted in the girl getting killed on the spot, sources said.
The assistant professor then forced the girl to go with him and also managed to escape from the neighbours when they tried to stop him. The latter subsequently informed the girl’s parents who, in turn, contacted the police.
Cuddapah SP Anburajan soon issued orders to track Krishna’s mobile phone which then revealed his presence in Vellore.
Acting on it, the police rushed to Vellore, arrested Krishna Mohan and handed over the girl back to her parents in Cuddapah.
