Tenant panics as man posts HR and CE’s property for sale

The tenant was shocked to see a flood of visitors to the house for price negotiation. A police team is now trying to find out the man behind the act, based on a complaint from an HR&CE official.

The property in question belonged to Sri Theerthapaleeswar temple on Natesan Road in Triplicane. The 561 sq ft house located in the second street, with survey number 826/8, was quoted for Rs 30 lakh on the online portal. Mohamed Kasim, who is staying with his family in the house for rent for the last 50 years, was shocked to see people approaching him for buying the house since February 26.

“The tenant was panicked because nobody had told him about it and HR&CE officials never told him about any possible sale of the house,” a police official said.

Kasim immediately approached the executive officer of the temple to know if they have decided to sell the house without informing him. The Executive officer (EO) was also shocked to know that somebody had offered to sell an HR&CE property online. After assuring all help to Mohamed Kasim, the EO checked the details in the portal. It was found that the property details were posted by one Sadiq Basha, along with a mobile phone number. Following the development, the EO had lodged a complaint with the Ice House police station seeking action against the person who had posted a sale offer in e-commerce flatform Olx for HR&CE property. On Saturday, the city police arrested two men from Rajasthan for cheating as many as 20 persons from Chennai by posing as army personnel offering to sell their vehicles in the same portal.

Online buyers disappear with bike

In a similar incident, a man who posted his high-end Yamaha bike for sale on the e-commerce site was duped by two persons, who fled with the bike after taking a test ride on the OMR. Police said that they have received a complaint from one Pradeep at Kannagi Nagar police station detailing his ordeal. Two men who approached him to buy the bike said they were ‘very happy’ with the condition of the bike and requested for a test ride after both the sides met each other on OMR.
