Collector discusses ULB polls

Collector and District Election Officer S Sivarasu convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties on Monday and discussed the upcoming Urban Local body polls.

Collector Sivarasu informed the political party representatives that the draft polling booth list of Tiruchy district for the local body polls was released on February 26. While any corrections to the list will be updated and an updated polling booth list will be released on March 5. Upon finalisation of the final polling booth list, the same will be printed and distributed, following which the preparation of the final voters list will commence. The draft voters list is scheduled to be released on March 20, said the Collector.


He also said that as many as 1,150 polling stations were established for the entire district while in Tiruchy city Corporation, as many as 771 are established. Meanwhile for the Municipal Corporations like Thuvakudi, Manapparai and Thuraiyur would have 32 polling stations. Similarly, for the Town Panchayats as many as 279 polling stations were established.


The draft list would be displayed in all the headquarters. Meanwhile the political parties too can provide any suggestions pertaining to the list. After release of the final list, the list of polling stations would be release based on the announcement for the election.
