It is said that the special medical team which was involved in the screening of the passengers arriving from various destinations conducted a special medical assessment of the passengers from Malaysia and Sharjah on Tuesday late hours.

The medical team suspected a passenger, who came from Sharjah by Air India Express and was identified as Balasubramanian (25), a resident from Athur in Salem district, of having the symptoms of COVID-19. Soon, they rushed him to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) where he was admitted in the isolation ward.

Meanwhile, the medical team continued to screen the passengers who came from Malaysia by Air Asia and Malindo Airways after which Sundarapandi (27), a resident from Thoothukudi, and an infant boy Mohammed Ibrahim from Velliyanai in Ramnad district were also found to be unwell. Soon they too were sent to the special ward in MGMGH.

Meanwhile, doctors who conducted a medical assessment of the trio admitted in the isolation ward at the MGMGH, clarified that they were found to have just viral fever and have no Covid-19 symptoms. “They are having just a viral fever.

They are responding to the treatment and their fever is under control. There is no chance of them having Covid-19. They would be discharged after two days,” said RMO Dr Yeganathan.
