Two arrested for bid to run over revenue inspector with car
The Tirupur police arrested two individuals on Wednesday for attempting to run over their car on a revenue inspector for questioning them regarding their two sand laden lorries without valid permits.

Police said S Sivasakthi, 29, a native of Erode and serving as a revenue inspector Nallur in Tirupur South Taluk was involved in a vehicle check to capture illegal sand laden lorries on the Kangeyam main road near Pudupalayam at around 9.45 am.
Acting on information that two lorries loaded with sand were stationed nearby, the official rushed to the spot. He asked the drivers Sathish Kumar, 28 and Elango, 29 for permits. However, they refused to give a proper reply and informed their lorry owner Suppukutty and his son Gopi, 32 from Muthanampalayam. The father son duo immediately turned up in a car and broke into a quarrel with therevenue inspector.
When the revenue inspector attempted to inform the Tahsildar, the duo snatched his mobile phone and threw it away. Then, Suppukutty got into the car and tried to run over the revenue inspector, who escaped narrowly by moving away. Yet, Sivasakthi suffered minor injuries on his leg and had to undergo treatment at Primary Health Centre in Nallur.
Based on a complaint from the revenue inspector, the police arrested Suppukutty and lorry driver Sathish Kumar for attempting to murder and preventing a government official from discharging his duty. Further inquiry is on.
