The state government will soon issue weatherproof public exam mark sheets. Currently, the mark sheets suffer wear and tear, this will be addressed with better quality mark sheets in the coming academic year, School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan announced in the Assembly on Thursday.
The Minister further explained that the certificates will now have the names of the parents and students in English and Tamil and the state will allocate a fund of Rs 13.50 crore for the purpose. Participating in the debate for the grants of his ministry, the Minister also said that the state will also explore the feasibility of government school students to visit NASA.
As part of the spoken English classes, the state will allocate more funds to improve the English efficiency of government school students. The Minister said that the state will create new posts for government school teachers at a cost of Rs 12.84 crore and also take up the civic infrastructure repair works and amenities across the state.
Commenting about the syllabus, the Minister said that the syllabus has been improvised to ensure that the students are able to crack the board exams and competitive exams like NEET.
To this announcement former education minister Thangam Thennarasu blamed the syllabus and method of teaching as weak and pointed out that the no government school student cleared the NEET exam last year.

The Minister also noted that the state will undertake infrastructure improvement works to a tune of Rs 16 crore to develop the existing government arts and sciences colleges across the state. The Higher Education Minister also informed the Assembly that Rs 20 crore will be spent as a grant for the up-gradation of the Thiruvallur University in Vellore.
