Bedi reviews progress made in road safety

Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, along with a team from Raj Nivas, on Saturday visited several roads here as part of her 259th morning weekend round to review the progress made on ground, concerning road safety measures for improved road-marking of central verges and other road and traffic engineering, including cleanliness.


According to a Raj Nivas release, Bedi urged all first responders in key departments like PWD, Municipality, Police to take a daily 8 am morning round, to identify areas of improvement by their own department or with the help of others and follow persistently.


While, senior officials participated, PWD Minister A Namassivayam, who was requested to participate, has sent a message of being pre-occupied while extending his support to the ongoing team efforts to mechanise drain cleaning urgently.


The PWD is provisioning tied funds in the upcoming budget to ensure implementation of this necessity year round ensuring human dignity and safety. This was long overdue and is a highly applaudable effort of the PWD, the Lt Governor said.
